Behind the Facade - Rye Hill Prison



All the following reports relate to the same prison which saw four prison guards cleared in relation to 23 year-old Michael Bailey from Birmingham.


Four guards cleared of jail death

Four prison officers charged over the death of an inmate have been cleared. Michael Bailey, 23, from Birmingham , was found dead at Rye Hill prison on the border of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire in March 2005.

Alone with an inmate on a wing of a private jail, an undercover reporter in his first weeks on duty as a prison officer is given a very surprising offer. The prisoner leaves him in no doubt that he is in a position to pay him double his normal weekly wage if he will act as a drugs courier.
